Saddle Ridge FC is proud to provide affordable community level soccer to hundreds of young players within our community. As our players grow and as we watch their skills develop, many of them will eventually become ready for a greater challenge. The next step for players in Calgary is to join a CMSA (Calgary Minor Soccer Association) team. This indoor, we would like to see all of our graduating U10 players consider taking on this opportunity. Please read the link below for news on the latest development within CMSA soccer programs right here in the North East of Calgary!
Congratulations to several of our former SRFC players, who featured strongly in this year’s Tier 1 Provincial Championships!
In U14, Orest Ndabaneze led Calgary’s NSD Celtic team to the Provincial Final, netting four goals, including a crucial finish in the final match to push his squad into a shoot-out for Provincial gold. Orest began his Calgary soccer career as an underage U14 player on the first ever CMSA team to play under the banner of Saddle Ridge FC. Orest experienced a heart breaking shoot-out loss to fall short of advancing to Nationals, but clearly did all he could to put his team within reach of a Provincial trophy.
In the U16 competition, former SRFC player Yenner Teah and SRFC Diversity Cup All-Star Caniggia Elva from Vieux-Fort St. Lucia helped SW United advance to the National Championships! Caniggia exploded in the U16 Final, scoring a hat-trick to defeat Calgary Foothills for the Gold!
In the U18 Tier 1 group, SRFC Cruzeiro star Yassin Yusuf (who was recruited by the highly touted Foothills Saints team following a dominating 2010 Tier 1 indoor campaign for SRFC) was the leading goal scorer in his age group. Yassin netted a hat trick in his first match and scored the only goal in a key victory over a favoured Edmonton Juventus squad to set his team up for the gold. Unfortunately for Yassin, Foothills fell short in the final match against Calgary Chinook.
Congratulations to all of our former players for the success they have had this summer! You are an inspiration for the next generations of elite SRFC talent!
The SRFC XI U14 Boys Tier 3 team brought home a Gold Medal this weekend, after an impressive tournament performance, registering 25 goals for and only one against in just four matches! The Provincial gold is the first for the Saddle Ridge Football Club, after SRFC teams had fallen just short of success at several previous province wide tournaments. The team caught the eye of Beacon News reporters and are featured in the article linked above.
Congratulations to all of our XI players and coaches!
Congratulations to the U10 Boys Division C SRFC Ice team who claimed the Bronze medal at the City Championships this weekend!
Today our Sr. Boys and Girls teams played tough games against some of the best young players in Calgary in the 2012 Diversity Cup. It was hard work for both of our teams, and a great first experience for our community players.
Unfortunately neither of our squads made it to the finals this year, but we are still very proud of our players for representing SRFC. Good luck next year!
With a convincing home field 6-1 win over NSD Sunday, the U12 Boys SRFC Ibex completed their undefeated seeding round campaign to qualify for the Tier 2 Play-offs! Team Captain Shiyar Mohammed led the way with a hat trick, to earn his second consecutive player of the match award. Congratulations Ibex!
The SRFC Cruzeiro U18 Boys Tier 1 team visited Saskatoon this weekend and captured gold medals after defeating the SUSC Prairie League team 3-0 in the final match Sunday afternoon. Nazeh Taha led the way over the course of the weekend, notching five goals and being awarded two man of the match medals out of only four matches. Congratulations Cruzeiro!
With our seasons now underway, and rainy April weather hitting us pretty hard, players should be checking the website before they head off to games or practices to find out if their sessions have been cancelled. To find out if your soccer game or practice has been cancelled, visit your team schedule page for an update by 4:00pm. If your time has not been cancelled by 4:00pm, it is still on!
Saddle Ridge FC has officially launched a new look website that should prove easier to navigate and will have more information on schedules and team news. Please be patient with us as we work to update all areas of the site in the coming week.
